Avid Readers

This term we have been thinking about what it means to be an avid reader.  The children decided it means these things.
An avid reader reads a lot.

An avid reader reads stacks of books.

We also spent time thinking about when we read at home and our favourite places to read. We realised it wasn't always at our desks so, with their reading partners they found a place anywhere in the classroom to read.

An avid reader reads everywhere.

Now we're thinking about the different types of reading we do. We discovered it's not always a book. You might have heard the children talking about an app called Raz -Kids. This app allows children to read a wealth of fiction and non-fiction books on the iPad. It allows them to listen to a story, read and record it and answer questions all for hard earned points. A letter will be going home with the details of how you can put this app on your devices. There might even be a little message for you on there.

Zoo Trip
Thanks again to the volunteers for the zoo. Over the next few weeks we will be busy doing our follow up research and presentations, when the process is complete I will put it in a post.
