Responsibility is the new watch word!

The children shared their holiday adventures on Monday and they all sounded like they had a very exciting break. I hope you did too.

They have come back to school ready for our final term together. This term we are really focusing on responsibility starting with our Discovery Times. During Discovery Times the children can explore activities linked to the learning in the classroom and other activities such as 'Make and Take' building on children's creativity and cooperation.
The first activity the children did to build responsibility and ownership was to design and make the 'Make and Take' area.  They decided what they needed in the area and how to set it out so everything is near by.
The children's ideas for layout and labels.

Next we thought about our responsibilities during Discovery Time and made a list. We have reflected on this list every Discovery Time to see if we are meeting our responsibilities.

We have been focusing on tidying up after ourselves before we move on. There has been a big difference already.
From this...

To this!
Thank you to everyone who collects for 'Make and Take' which is a very popular area. The children find lots of uses for toilet and kitchen rolls so please save some of those!

Zoe's visit to Reggio Emilia
Next week I have the opportunity of going to visit Reggio Emilia in Italy. The principles of Reggio are being adopted in many schools including our own so going to visit it first hand will be very interesting and informative. This unfortunately means I will be away for the week. K2ZBr will have Amy Bridge covering for the week.

Amy is an Australian who has recently come over to Singapore. She has been covering regularly in the primary school and knows the routines. Both Amy and Ms Hong Eng will be on hand during the Student Led Conferences to help them run smoothly. You will have received an email this week informing you of your conference time. The children are very eager to teach you about their learning in K2ZBr.  I hope you have a fun time with them.
