Little Pig, Little Pig, Let me in!

Welcome back to our first week where we introduced the story that we will be sharing with you for our Arts Festival. I was going to keep it a surprise but the children seem very excited and I think some may have given the game away already. Also we have already done so much story telling work I wanted to share it with you.
We began the week getting very familiar with the story and noticed that not all the stories are alike, for example, in some stories the pig is eaten and in others the pigs survive. Which one will we choose? Well you'll have to come along and see!
Then we thought about how stories are told in different ways and started retelling the story through pictures. We were thinking about using story language to show the beginning, middle and end.

Here is a snap shot of Ava's story. Your child's example will be appearing in their Learning Journal over next week.

Other ways of telling stories are through puppets. The children have started making stick puppets so they can all act out the story with them.
Making the Puppets

Once the puppets are ready we will start thinking about the setting.
As well as puppets we also started to consider how WE will act out the story and so today we took our first exciting and tentative steps on the big stage!

More practices to come!
