Welcome back Maths Workshop...we missed you.

Today we welcomed back Maths Workshop after a Christmas/New Year hiatus. This week we had lots of guessing games. The children played in pairs 'Guess my shape'. We were revising our shape names and properties by picking a shape and giving our friends three clues to identify the shape.

You could do this at home just by looking at everyday objects around the house.
We also played 'Guess my number.' The children again worked in pairs and whilst one partner shut their eyes the other put three counters on a number square.

They had to say which numbers were covered. The children practised identifying the missing numbers by counting in ones or tens.

Then we bundled.

We have been thinking this week about how grouping things makes them quicker to count. We had lots of objects to count and bundle into groups of ten. The children counted up in tens and any left over ones and investigated who had the most objects and who had the least.

The final activity was all about adding and subtracting, helping us become quicker problem solvers.

Thank you to our parent volunteers that help all the activities run smoothly.

Please remember that Wednesday is an early pick up at 11:45 and I look forward to seeing you back in the classroom afternoon at 2:30.
