Using a purple pen! What does that mean?

Today was a very exciting day as the children were introduced to the purple pen!
We talked today in Writing Workshop about the 'writing process'.

We identified that we are currently at the drafting stage of our 'All About' books. So, we have thought about our ideas, the pre writing stage, and we have been busy writing them, the drafting stage. But now it's time to come back to our books and make them better. So today we were writers that revised our work and edited it and that is where the purple pen comes into action.

Some of us were writers that added to our pictures.

Some of us were writers that added one more thing to the words.

But all of us became writers who thought more about their writing and revised it to make it better. So when your child's work comes home with purple pen on it...

 ... You know it wasn't me. It was part of the writing process!
